Chesterfield FC Women drew 2-2 with tier three side Loughborough Lightning on Thursday evening in the FA Women's National League Cup, surrendering a two-goal first-half lead but securing a point on the road.
Imogen Fowler and Amy Nowell both scored in the first half to put Chesterfield in control at the break. Loughborough fought back in the second half, however, with the hosts scoring twice to level the match.
What manager Pete Jarvis said
Manager Pete Jarvis praised his side's attacking approach throughout the game. "I thought we were competitive through the whole game," he said. "We had more opportunities in the first half and took them really well. One set piece and one open play."
Jarvis added that the performance represented a significant improvement on the teams' previous meeting. "It was a really good performance from us overall, and significantly better than when we played them last time just a couple of weeks ago," he said.

Chesterfield host Sheffield FC at the SMH Group Stadium on 27th September in their final group game. The result will determine whether Chesterfield progress to the next round of the competition.
