Chesterfield FC Women returned to winning form with a 3-1 victory against Sheffield United PGA in the FA Women's National League Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Ruby Shore, Tilly Hallas-Potts and Evie Carter secured the win and strengthened Chesterfield's position in Group R. The Spireites still have a rescheduled game against Loughborough Lightning and a final fixture against Sheffield FC to play.
Manager's Assessment
Manager Pete Jarvis praised his team's performance. "It was a really professional job," he said. "We didn't have a great deal of possession over the course of the game, but we managed to be really disciplined throughout and take our opportunities a lot better today.
"We have been working on the connections in training, and they're developing a better understanding each week."
How the Match Unfolded
Sheffield United nearly took an early lead when they struck the bar from close range after just four minutes. The opening period remained relatively even, with goalkeeper Zoe Millington called upon to make several saves for Chesterfield.
Play was halted around the half-hour mark when Abbie Staples required treatment on the pitch.
