Poundstretcher is set to open a new Chesterfield store at 9am on Wednesday 26 August, creating up to 12 jobs in the town.

The discount retailer said it will occupy the former River Island unit at Vicar Lane Shopping Centre.

Opening day in Chesterfield

Poundstretcher says Chesterfield Mayor Shirley Niblock will attend the opening. The first 100 customers through the doors are also expected to receive a free goody bag.

The store will stock branded and non-branded products across clothing, DIY, gardening, health and beauty, home decor, food and drink, storage and pet supplies.

Up to 12 jobs expected

The company says the opening could create up to 12 jobs locally and forms part of its wider UK expansion plans.
