Chesterfield FC played out a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United in an extended 120-minute fixture on Saturday. Both clubs had agreed beforehand to split the match into three periods of 45, 45 and 30 minutes, as preparation for next weekend's Carabao Cup tie between Chesterfield and Fleetwood Town.

How the match unfolded

George McEachran gave the Spireites an early lead, but Alfie Beestin levelled for the hosts to level the match.

Chesterfield had chances throughout the fixture. Lee Bonis was denied by Scunthorpe goalkeeper Louis Jones early on, while Liam Mandeville saw an effort turned behind for a corner in the 42nd minute.

Scunthorpe's best opportunity came around the 20-minute mark when Dec Howe broke through the Chesterfield defence and fired across goal, narrowly missing the right post.
