Chesterfield Borough Council is launching a new system to improve how tenants receive updates about repairs to their homes. The system, called Total Mobile, will officially launch on Wednesday 26 August.

What the new system offers

Total Mobile is designed to provide tenants with clearer, more timely information about upcoming repair appointments through text and email notifications.

When an appointment is booked, tenants will receive an email confirmation followed by a reminder text the day before the visit. When a repair operative is on the way, tenants will receive a text message that includes the operative's first name — helping residents confirm they are dealing with a Chesterfield Borough Council employee.

Benefits for the council

The system also introduces a dynamic scheduling tool that allows the council to allocate repairs more efficiently, helping to reduce waiting times and repeat visits.

Councillor Gavin Baldauf-Good, cabinet member for customers and business transformation, said: "Keeping people informed is really important and the new system will give tenants clearer information and real-time updates, while also helping our repairs teams work more efficiently."

How to prepare

Council tenants who have not already provided their current contact details are being encouraged to update them online so they can benefit from the new system. Tenants without an email address or mobile phone will continue to receive important information by post.
