Chesterfield FC has progressed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Maltese Football Association through a recent visit to Malta by senior club staff. Chief executive John Croot, academy manager Neil Cluxton and head of academy recruitment Justin Tellus travelled to the Mediterranean island to deliver training and hold strategic discussions with the MFA.
Coach Education Sessions
During the trip, two CPD sessions were delivered to Maltese Football Association coaches with a focus on talent identification, development and practical coaching in professional environments. The sessions were well attended and provided Maltese coaches with insights into the professional game through conversations with the Chesterfield FC delegation.
Personal Connections
John Croot holds a personal connection with Malta, having spent part of his childhood on the island. Justin Tellus brings playing experience from the country, having featured for Maltese clubs Birkirkara and Valletta during his career.
Strategic Discussions and Future Plans
The trio met with Malta FA's technical centre to discuss coach education, talent identification, player pathways and player care. The delegation also visited Maltese clubs including Hibernians, Melita and Luxol St. As part of the ongoing partnership, plans were discussed for Maltese coaches to visit England to gain and share further knowledge about the game.
