Matthew Rhodes, a local sports journalist and broadcaster, will sign copies of his new book at Chesterfield FC on Monday, August 3. Rhodes has written A Fine Line, which explores the Spireites' FA Cup campaign during the 1996/97 season. The book signing takes place at the SMH Group Stadium Club Shop from 10am until midday, with copies available to purchase directly from the author.
The Book
A Fine Line celebrates Chesterfield FC's underdog FA Cup story, featuring first-hand accounts from players including club legends Jamie Hewitt and Sean Dyche. Hewitt, who scored a dramatic late equaliser in the semi-final, has written the foreword for the book, bringing personal perspective to the club's near-miss at reaching the final.

Rhodes was born and raised in Chesterfield and previously served as North Derbyshire Radio's senior sports editor until 2025.
